I feel so stupid right now...
I've been beatmaking for appr. 1 year now and - somehow due to my lack of musical knowledge aswell as the fact that I had to learn everything by myself - I've always thought you had to stick as a hip-hop producer to the following bpm rates:
90 bpm (or 180 bpm, which is basicly the same) because that's how rappers like it.
FALSE!
It's like whole new realms (I'm a sample-based producers) are opening up... Now I don't even have to spend hours on figuring out how to strech the sample so it does fit EXACTLY 90 bpm, etc.
Haa... Nevertheless, I love this whole hip-hop thing. It's like you never stop to learn and perfect your craft.
Hope my experience can help some of the newbies out there.
I just redid a few songs from established producers like THAT.
Sampling is really only about finding the right record and work on it a few minutes.
