Three methods I use to find samples are:

1 searching for youtube playlists by genre and digging through the search results.

2 using whosampled.com and searching songs I know are sampled and finding out what those samples are.

3 it may seem a bit silly but it work's use the discover weekly playlist in Spotify, if I know I want samples in a certain genre I listen to a few songs for instance in that genre and every Monday it spits out some new suggestions.

yes, find songs you like that you are in your genre and look them up in whosampled.com if they are sampled. If you want chill ambient, etc etc. think about the instruments that are used in that type of music to create that feeling. a la strings, orchestra, synths, vocals, choir sounds and try to think of musical arrangements that would use that type of sound. not sure what you're into exactly, but some things come to mind...classical music and orchestras, indie ambient songs on spotify, choirs, soundtracks to emotional movies, soap operas, etc.

Also if you reverse some samples and pitch them down you can slow the sound and remove that attack, to give more ambience. See Clams Casino and what he does to Imogen Heap songs by pitching down and reversing. Cheers!

you could sample your fave phrases/sounds from the anime you like.
i'm not even really into anime but ive sampled some pretty dope stuff from Naruto.

it takes time and effort to find the samples you want. searching through old japanese folk music could probably provide some really good stuff. as far as finding it, if you arent a record digger, the internet is here as a great tool to find info we never could imagine being connected with.

have fun, its going to take time and effort...sure helps if you enjoy the musical styles of what you are digging through:cheers:
but that doesnt always happen.:alcoholic:

Sometimes that is fun, flipping.
But mostly just a plugin guy myself, sample libraries, synthesizer modules & the like.

Tips on sampling? Take care to not chop for the sake of chopping, ensure all loop points are smooth and just jam away.
