I just wanted to know, when you rip songs from youtube or wherever you get them, do you save the files as .mp3 or .wav? Also, would it make a difference if you're ripping from the internet anyway?

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, besides file size, there would be no difference in sonic quality.

There's no real difference as long as the mp3 is over 190 (as far as bit rate)
But just like with any recording/song,if you start with bad quality, the end result will be just as bad.

Peace

I'm going to disagree with the above dudes. If you're sampling from youtube the file is already going to be compressed. If you re-compress something that has already been compressed at least once and maybe twice or three times you might start to hear audio artifacts. Not good.

I'd sample into wav or flac or m4a. Any lossless file will do and it'll give you peace of mind.
