How To sample just one side of a stereo sound?

Im using mashine studio 2.0 and i havent figured out how to record just the left channel or just the right, anyone know how to do this. sounds run through my turntable trough a mixer then into my interface

simplest way is also the smartest way

split the audio you sample into separate left and right tracks,

then delete the right track,

then make the left track mono

problem solved - this can be done in any daw

next simplest (it requires that your daw can do this)

mute the right hand channel or otherwise disconnect the audio coming in on the right channel

depending on how you try to do this you might get hum in the other channel

There's a method much easier. When you're in sampling mode in maschine in the lower left corner on the left screen it should say external stereo, turn the knob underneath to external mono and the knob next to it allows you to pick the side you want to record

if everything else fails you can always send the panned stereo track to a mono bus, thereby not deleting the other stereo side of the sample either in case you feel like taking anything out of it down the road
