How long do you listen to records to find samples and do you always save your chops?

How long do you listen to records to find samples? Also do you always save your chops even though you might not feeling it at the time?

I think that the reason why I can only for example come up with a verse is beacuse I don't spend enogh time listening to records. I'm like okay this intro is cool, and I chop the intro and that's it, sometimes I can get lucky and find samples that fit together and create a verse and a hook but mostly not.

I've definitely gotten better but still there's a lot to learn.

depends on the record... if it's something I don't have a lot of hope for I just preview the intro of each track to find something. If it's something really trippy or progressive I listen all the way through.

I listen the length of the song. There's always something I can use from a record regardless of genre. I go after phrases rather than loops
