basic sampling question

sup yall.i have a akai mpc1000 and technic 1200 with a stanton (sp?) mixer. juss wondering wat the levels on the mixer should be when sampling into the mpc. should the gain, master, and channel fader be all the way up? let me know yall..peace.

No they shouldnt be all the way up. How ever you are monitoring your music (samples), set your levels to where it sounds right and when you are in samlpling mode on the MPC, check the levels on the screen and adjust accordingly... You can adjust the gain on your mixer or you adjust the recording level on the MPC... But you shouldn't have to turn your recording level up more than half way... If you do, you'll get alot of air in it.... I hope you understood what I just wrote... Peace
