Thread: Why don't my beats sound "professional"?

    Man its not that hard, I bet he doesn't hardly use much EQ at all. And he probably understands compression. Trying to get your shyt sounding like the pros by fuycking with EQ's is only going to fustrate you and fuyck your track up. Use that shyt sparingly.

    Use good sounds, and work on mixing your instruments and drums just using volume and panning.

    Oh yeah most of that shyt on soundclip be clipping like shyt. Dont consentrate on making your shyt sound LOUD, just focus on mixing everything in good to where its level...take baby steps

    kaliljn is right, it took me about a year to understand how sounds work, and most important how they work together.
    a friend of mine solved the SAE and sometimes we made beats together. hes hot and i always thought about how it get his beats sound so pro. after a few session i realised. he doenst even use effects on the preview and the preview is bangin. just because he knows how to choose the right sounds and get them on the real volume.

    and last but not last.
    put at the end of the master channel a limiter or multiband and gain dat ****. if something sound strange your mix doenst fit

    If you are using a motif the sounds are more than adequate. The comments here about knowing how to mix are accurate. I would also add that you must record each individual sound into logic and mix each one seperately and some will have effects/eq, some will not. Kick, snare, hats, crash, 808, bassline etc all on seperate tracks. Also not having heard the music, the arrangement and sound selection is important as well.

    As well as any resources that you may find on the net and depending on your genre I'd also recommed "The Dance Music Manual" by Rick Snoman. I've just started to read it as well as getting online help.

    i didn't read this whole thing so if this has been said already, i apologize.

    but the secret is recording every instrument to a separate track so that you can add effects in Logic/ProTools, etc to your sounds.

    As far as premade drum sounds - try Spectrasonics Stylus RMX.

    BTW - get Ableton Live 8 - learn it. And track into logic from that.

    Making music in logic is very mechanical and i feel like it takes forever and restricts my creative freedom.
