That's just the truth. No getting around it.

You can't compare a kid in his bedroom that's been doing this for a few years with Bruce Swedien
And why would you, really. How many kids in their bedroom have recently mixed a platinum hit?

Not that I was comparing the experience in front of the smallies - quite the opposite; you hit the nail on the head that smallies have their place and are used by professionals world-wide. Kids in their bedroom with the desire to become a professional in the industry one day shouldn't feel ashamed to use them.

Hey Troupe(or anyone else out there with a pair), how do you like those Event 20/20s?

I have a pair, but I just can't get into them, I try to force myself to use them, but I just feel like somethings lacking in the sound. May just be my room.
Two things that annoy me are people who are positive out of ignorance, and people who are negative out of bitterness. People who are neither usually get along with me and agree with most of what I say. People who are one of the 2 think I'm the other.

They are cool. They were my first pair of nearfields, so I really didn't have a frame of referenced (or a developed ear) to know what I was picking out. I just really chose the speakers that my music sounded the worst on.

    John...

I completely understand that these speakers are in no way a replacement for actual mains. But until I can actually get me a proper building and have a proper studio designed (which is still a year or 2 away), then these will have to do.

My main concern is getting some nearfields to do pre-mixing on, for demo purposes. Just want to get the music sounding as good as possible. When it's comes time to get things actually mixed, then I take them to my engineer, who has the proper equipment, experience (and the gold record doesn't hurt) to do the job right. Cuz I'm not an engineer, and have no aspirations to be.

But thank you for the responses, the knowledge is greatly appreciated!

i agree with everyone..but i notice that when people mix at high volume levels, they tend to boost the bass in the mix..then when listening to playback the bass has taken up most of the headroom, leaving lil or none for futher processing or mastering..
