What am I doing wrong with these vocals?

Granted this is my first time recording any vocalist, but it is not sounding right.

One of the problems is that he gave me the stereo track to record to and not everything broken down. Other than that, I'm not sure what I can do to make it sound better.

I recorded it in Pro tools LE, using a sm58 mic. I did some chorus on the vocals and compressed with the waves renaissance compressor. Let me know if you guys hear anything that will help this mixing out!

The song is Authority deficit disorder. Thanks everyone for the help!

I would say reduce or lose the chorus during the verse, and play with the compressor settings. You could also try boosting some of the high frequencies to enhance the vocal clarity.

These are all rough guesses though. I'm probably not any more qualified than you in this area, but I'm just throwing out some ideas. It really doesn't sound bad though.

Just bring up the main vocal by about .3 to .5 dB. Thats point 3 not 3

Unless you have something that is driving you nuts, I don't hear anything that is wrong except to bring the vocal up a little to hear it better.
