Question Upload quality vs Original quality

I've noticed a considerable difference in the quality of my track on soundcloud played on my desktop, as opposed to its original form (played on FL studio or windows media player). I do know that soundcloud reduces its quality for streaming purposes, but what has struck me is that my track sounds different amongst different devices; it sounds clear and how it's supposed to when played on my phone, ipod or even streamed on my phone, but when streamed via soundcloud on my laptop or desktop, the sound varies and ultimately reduces its quality (bass sounds distorted, volume lowers in certain parts). Why is this? is it related to my soundcard? I'm quite new to this so I'm rather confused.

    this is my track: soundcloud.com/jublet/heron-ii

    Thank you for your help.

The distortion and quality loss is due to the compression that soundcloud uses for its uploads. Without it, the amount of data stored in the Soundcloud webspace would be immense. Doesn't make a difference to upload a very high quality track compared to an ordinary .mp3 file either.

We all have to live with this.

I believe I've read somewhere all Soundcloud streams are 192kbps, could be wrong though. Drives me nuts what SC does to some of the tracks I work on for people, such a huge difference sometimes...
