Lightbulb Track Exciting Technique Question ?

Okay, so im using FL 10 and when Im exciting my vocal tracks and/or instrument tracks, instead of exporting a version with a low cut filter (including only the highs at around 5-6 kHz and higher), Im using one of the send channels to do the job. I apply an EQ with only the high frequencies, and then im sending each track to that send channel at a certain percentage. So my question is: Is my technique right, or should I export a high frequency only version of the tracks I want to excite, for a better sounding?

    Thanks in advance

When I'm exciting something, I usually send the tracks to a bus and high pass it anywhere between 1 and 5k depending on what I'm going for. I would then use an exciter after that or a touch of distortion. Then obviously blend the bus in with the rest of the mix.
