I have always used cool edit to chop up my samples. But due to a system crash i no longer have the old version i loved. But i recently bought the mbox mini and i have pro tools. Im trying to use common sense but shouldnt pro tools be the best sample editor available since its powers are endless? I just wanted some different opinions.ANd Im a newbie to pro tools btw

Protools powers are no more "endless" than any other sequencer...

...and any sequencer that can use plugin samplers and has typical audio editing capabilities will be equally good for sample editing.

no it's not. it's one option. exactly as good as using your windows sound recorder.

    Off topic:

where do all these protools misconceptions come from? (the fourth this week) the funny thing is that these guys can't even read - their questions have mostly already clearly been answered 1 or two threads away.

how can people be so crazy fvcked up by adverts and buzz... ...so insecure and ignorant they need to hide behind brand names. is that a speciality from the US or what? it's a really annoying phenomenon is this forum.

PROTOOLS is a brand-name, not an attribute.

If you actually were digging what I was saying, you would understand that all sequencers essentially do the same thing and that they are all equally fine for what you are doing.

For me, I couldn't live without Edison. I spent weeks cutting samples out of files using a separate audio editor. It's a pain in the ass.

You cut the file. Save it somewhere. Then tab over to FL Studio and load the file into a channel. If you messed up on the cut, you have to do it again or if you just wanna edit it some kind of way to get it to sound right. If you like to experiment with samples, it can be time consuming. With Edison, it's just drag and drop. Just my opinion.

Just wondering if it was my BESToption. Didn't want to get into product beefs. I just got this program. In my opinion my old cool edit from 5 years ago was the best. I just figured I'd move on and move on to what seems to be in every major studio iv'e ever been in.

Use what works for you. Eventually once you learn your tools, almost everything is a breeze.
