    Panning technique?

I have always wondered how to make a sound panned hard left and hard right at the same time. Basically, the dynamics stay the same, but the sound is only present on the sides, not in the center. . . Any help would be appreciated! Also, I use FL Studio.

Have you tried using some form of stereo spreader?

I've messed around with the stereo separation knob on the mixer and the fruity stereo shaper, but still wasn't able to make the sound only present on the sides(hard left and hard right at same time).

ah right, tried duplicating the channel with the sound on and try hard panning one L, one R? and mix them down as the sound will be doubled.

To my knowledge i don't think you can just get rid of the mono information of a channel with any fruity stock plugins.

Hey guys. If you just duplicate a channel and pan them L and R they will cancel each other out because of the phase. You can do the above IF you alter the copied track a bit like moving the pitch up or down a few cents and re printing the wav file so that it is no longer exactly the same. It also depends on what the sound source is. You can record it that way from the start. say a vocal... use 2 different mics at the same time pan them accordingly.

They will not always cancel each other out, especially if playing out of separate speakers.

But a good wide stereo spreader should do this job without trying any of this.

If you pan 2 mono channels the phase cancels it out.. use a decent stereo spreader and that should give you what yo're looking for... there are lots of plugins availible for FL too so you're in luck!
