Panning Chorus Layers

Maybe I'm misleading ppl by using the word 'chorus'. I'm not trying to imply that I'm recording an actual choir. I'm talking bout the hook of a song in hip-hop and r&b.

And no, I don't add effects to all the layers. Out of 6, maybe a lil reverb on 2-4 of em. I keep some dry.

So, u said you get good mono mixes....how do you go about doing that? Everytime I check my mixes in mono, it sounds really nasty and un-human-like on top of being lower in volume.

sorry i mistunderstood there abit, choirs are maybe abit easier since they are often on diferent freqbands and doesnt collide,

though with ur prob, mb u could phase reverse some and try how it sounds, or sing very similair rythmicaly and maybe filter the tracks so it aint sounding excactly similar, mb with eq or sum.
im not that sure man,
maybe u could press the mono button and then mix til it sounds ok? then switch back and see how it sounds, finding a comphrehensive solotuin? ^^

Today I used 5 layers.

Left 50
Left 25
Center (Stereo Widening Applied)
Right 25
Right 50

Compression on every single track, and then them all on one bus called "chorus", and compressed that. Sounds saucey.

fvck it....i'ma just go hit up these two different engineers i know. They're busy, but whatever, I'll get 'em to teach me.
