It's possible. Would you want to, or would you get results is the question. Headphones aren't a good reference, for mixing usually, regardless of how expensive they are. .

As with monitors, the most important thing is to know how they sound, inside out. This way you'll eventually learn to hear how certain things translate to different speaker systems.

For example I still don't have monitors - instead I mostly mix on headphones and a home stereo system (which could be considered as the average end user system), and occasionally listen to stuff on an iPod or my friend's setups to get a picture on how different sounds react in those. A monitor setup makes the process much easier to a/b (or in my case, a/b/c/d...) stuff.

ive always mixed in my headphones and i tell ya right now, it causes many problems.

i dont kno wht it is, maybe you get an incorrect spatial picture in your head because the sound is right on your ear.

with monitors you can take a step back and you can imagine whr the sounds are in the spatial spectrum a bit easier

i guess thts the reason why headphone are no good to mixing

yo personally, either do your stuff

and take it to a local studio and give a shot at mixing it there (if you have the connection, go for it).

but if you arent aiming at the big crowds or trying to get in the radio or doing big things, sure, screw it, go through the headphones.

you jus wont get that mainstream feel if you dont take it through some monitors and trained ears.
