Mic-In or Line-In with this setup?

Hey all. Great forums... Been lurkin for a while, finally got around to registering. Questions: I have a decent mic ran through a bluetube preamp, and I've been recording into Sonar with that hooked into the Mic-In. I've read that the line-in on the soundcard (SBLive Value, Kx Drivers), is supposed to be quieter, but when I run it through that I'm only getting a Mono signal in Sonar. What gives? Question 2: With the KX drivers installed, what do I adjust to raise or lower the volume of the mic through the headphones so it's lower in the mix when I'm recording, without reducing it's actual recording level in Sonar? Thanks in advance guys.

Not real sure what you are asking because a microphone is a mono signal.

As for inputs you should set your sound card to accept a 0dB input and then adjust the outboard preamp to record the hottest signal without clipping.

On the output use Sonar's faders to raise the level if needed and then again without clipping the output of the soundcard or Sonar for that matter.

basically, I'm only getting the signal from the mic in Sonar only coming through the left side of the headphones. I want it coming through both. As for setting the soundcard to accept a 0db input, do I do that in the recording levels for the soundcard?
