So I don't really have the income to purchase drum kits so I usually will download free kits online.

But when I play them back in FL studio the kick drums sound horrible.

What should I do?

Does it have to do with clipping?

Does the change in pitch and transpose make kicks sound better?

Find a way to make some money! You usually get what you pay for.
Every once in a while, you'll find something fantastic for free, but that's the exception rather than the rule.

Thanks Salem. I'm a check out the link. I usually download kits from freedrumkits.net and use the trap kit most of the time for them DJ mustard type beats.

in the instrument properties (still remember this) uncheck everything because for some reason fl does that with some sounds from time to time, or the guys that made the kit you downloaded kept those settings in for some reason.

Are you EQing them? That helps a lot.
Free drum kits are a hit or miss though, there are a lot of terrible ones out there but you can also find some really good ones as well.
