    It's a toss up for me:

    Do what the song calls for.

    OR

    Know when to let the song go and be what it is meant to be.

    get your study on
    read on the gold envelopes stickies in every section o Futureproducers

    and in conjunction with youtube watch the video and while making your beats do what they doing on the video that will allow you to pick up alot of different techniques quickly and you can do it over and over
    play and pause use them
    look up the exact DAW you're using
    on youtube
    music theory,sound design

    I recommend reading ALOT of this, and referring to this whenever you have a question that you are going to start with, "I'm new here..." or "What DAW should I get?"

    Read EVERY manual for EVERY piece of equipment you own before jumping right in. Even the little booklet to show how your mic works.
