How to mix my vocals within a beat?

I'm new to this. My lyrics and vocals are clear, but now I need to learn how to mix it properly with a beat. It seems like my voice is over the beat, no matter what I do.

I have Adobe Audition, and Waves Platinum.

    Any help?

Just run your vocals through Waves Platinum. It should be good after that.

You should read the sticky "Understanding EQ/Everthing in its own space"

1st and foremost, you will NEVER get that "radio" result when you haven't got the beat tracked out.

If you do so, my advice is to mix your vox with the drums/percs and bass, when it sounds the way you want it, you mix the additional instruments around them, that way you get a nice mix with everything balanced out instead of everything fighting eachother for a spot

2nd you should stay away from the adobe presets (not that they are all bad, but you should mix with your ears, try tweaking the knobs a little, it's a good way to train your ears)

3rd beats you download from soundclick or an instrumental tape like J-Armz are allready mixed and mastered, you won't get the result you want with an allready compressed etc. file + It's probably low quality mp3....not a good thing.

4th you should start learning about eq, co-sign Djnx, you should read the sticky and learnout frequencies.

5th where did you download the Waves bundle?

    lol
