    another question


    the otha day i was listening at the jay z's D.O.A sample an when i heard it,i just don't believe it,the sample was dirty and kanye o whoever that did the beat,make it so clean


    so..

    my question is

    how to clean the samples like that?

    i mean i like dirty sounds on my beatz,but some times i need clean'em

    but for real...you need to attack it just like you would if you were cleaning something else! your ears should tell you what it needs! also...this is RULE#1 for me when working with samples...MAKE SURE IT'S IN WAVE FORM INSTEAD OF .MP3! you'll be amazed!!!

    +1 for the above post. Buy a quality audio interface to record vinyl onto your computer also, and make sure its in at least 16 bit 44.1khz wav format. Might take up a lot of room on your computer, but your sample will be better quality.

    More than likely it came from a cleaner source than yours.

    Not by itself, no. But I believe that by a grimy sample being made "clean", he was referring to its crispness, not just the elimination of distortion, artifacts, etc.
