how to deal with clashing frequiences

Im doing a mix for a friend a everything seems to sound good except the hi hats. There are two hi hats and it seems they are clashing with the vocals. Would bring the lower mid freq of the hits pull away from the vocals and make them be heard and fit better.

in my car i obviously heard the hi hats clashing and with some of the snare as well.I then listened in my bedroom and am for sure that the hi hats and snare must be tweaked but im kinda unsure how i would go about getting them all the fit.

First try panning your hi-hats off-center (if they aren't already) Then, try soloing the hi-hats and the vocals and finding out the problem frequencies, You can begin with an EQ plugin, or hardware. use a narrow Q with the gain cranked all the way up, and sweep the frequency spectrum to see which frequency in the h-hats are clashing with the vocals. Once found, simply subtract that frequency from the hats.

If these ideas don't work, try applying a taste of reverb to the lead vocal to give it it's on space in the mix. Hope this helps! Get back to me with some updates, I would love to hear your music!!

If the hi-hat is clashing both snare and voice, maybe it's not a EQ problem, but a mix one. Do you try to turn the hi-hat down?

How could you expect I can tell you? Hi hat is too loud in the track. Remove one, lower both, do whatever works...
