How to "Cut" Delay Effect

Hello. In FL 11 there is an option for the sounds to "cut itself" so that once the next hit of the sound plays, the previous stops completely.

What I've done is automated the volume of the delay although I feel like there may be some better way to use such a simple tactic.

I was wondering what the most effective way to do this for a delay plugin would be? I want the delay of the first sound to cut off exactly when the 2nd sound (in this case its the same sound but I'd like to know the best method for doing this either way)

Thanks in advance

Sidechain the delay through a gate perhaps? Allthough this won't stop the delay completely, but instead it will just cut it off when the new notes are playing and have it back up again when the notes stop. Timeless 2 has a function to modulate the dry signal with the wet, so that it gets cut off whenever you play notes. I have no idea what kind of delay plugins you are using but, there should be other ways then to manually automate the volume.
