Good Mic!!???

I'm thinking about getting a mic for recording hiphop and R&B vocals but i know nuthin about mics at all other than i need a condenser mic:confused: . so i have some questions to help me along.

1. what should i be looking for in a mic, whats important (in terms of specs and stuff).

2. wat makes the Neumann TLM-103 so popular. (though thats not in my price range, i still wanna know)

3. any suggestions (my range is from $100 - $200)

well the best advice i can give u is that the perfect mic for that price range is the akg perception 220 or an audio technica 3035 why are neumann so popular is because the sound and quality you get from then and because they are hand made and have about 3 or more capsules in them when ur standard mic from 100-200 bucks has 1 capsule hope this helps

Save another 100 and get a heil pro pr40 trust me its great that or a shure sm7b but then you need a preamp the pr40 is awesome....

well i have the xenyx 1622 mixer do u think the pre amp on that will be enuff??

For the heil pro pr40 yes. The shure sm7b no. With the shure you need to have a good preamp.
