    Getting Set Up

I made a post yesterday about learning to Mix and Master, I think Im well on my way. Im preparing to set up a basic low budget studio and then gradually upgrade as I go.

This is what I have now -

    • Blue Yeti Pro using the USB interface
    • 15in MacBook Pro 4GB of Ram 500GB Hardrive
    • Logic 9
    • Sony MDR-V700 Headphones

What should be my next purchase? What do I need now. I had heard that it could be the thing should be an audio interface but do I need that if im using a USB mic? should I get it and switch to XLR? Any advice would be appreciated.

I would say as far as u needing the audio interface for using a mic.. it can also be used to enhance the sound. I have the Tascam audio interface..i rarely use to record vocals.. jus use in fl studio as an interface for sound..i love it. i would also get a mixer and good speakers .. if u already got 'em thats cool..hope this helps ..good luck..

    Hey Bill,

It's definitely worth investing in a pair of studio monitors. Also don't forget to consider the room that your working in. No matter how good your equipment is if the room your in sounds awful it may hinder your mixing. GIK Acoustics do some great portable acoustic treatment and the guys who work there are really helpful.

If your considering doing any acoustic treatment you can buy a Behringer ECM8000 flat frequency response microphone for £40. It will help you identify what work your room might need.

    Hope that helps.
