    Exporting Out Of Fruity Loops

Wusup FP, Ive been tracking out beats from FL9 today, and I came across a problem.
With all the beats I turn off any Fx, and then I use the SSL X-ISM to monitor the master to make sure there is no clipping. Then I export a Wav and 'Split Mixer Tracks'. (Dry Tracks)

So I was wondering if this is a good way to do it? But on one beat i have to turn all the tracks real low to avoid clipping. But if I export it as an individual track (Arm Disk Recording), I can turn it up to a more normal level for a dry track.

    Please help, Thanks.,

That's because the tracks themselves are not clippping, they are clipping in the mix.

If you are exporting them to be mixed elsewhere then make sure they aren't distorted and leave the loudness to the mastering engineer.

    I understand this

?So when I track out my beats to mix them, it doesn't matter how loud all the tracks are??

Just give yourself plenty of room to work with. I usually track out from my motif or reason at about -10dB

I'm still confused. When Im Tracking out, do I only pay attention to the individual channels, and ignore any clipping on the master??
Main Objective = No clipping on the tracks with Headroom Right??

The master doesn't matter if it's clipping when exporting....just focus on the individual tracks and make sure they're not going above 0dbfs

Correct. If you are exporting individual channels, the master channel level doesn't matter. In all likely hood, the master channel will be clipping because it is summing all the individual channels.

I was reading this thread Proper Final Mix-Down Procedures. And it implies(if not says) that there should be no clipping on the master when exporting final WET tracks.

Do I wanna track my DRY signals hotter because they are DRY?? and am I only watching out for clipping on the master channel during final mix-down??

If this would be useful,, I need to track my beat out of FL, Import into Cubase for mixing, then mix-down for master. (I usually do my own maybe in WaveLab, only using very LIGHT settings)

It's been a while since I've used FL, however, to my recollection - the dry tracks can all be exported simultaneously using an export option. For a track to be processed it has to actually render through the effects and out the master buss - but there is probably someone who can answer more definitively than me.

Or, you can run an experiment and put a very distinct effect on the masterbuss, and then export wet files and see if that effect ends up on them. If that happens then you know those files are all passing through the master buss, and you need to watch for clipping.

Thanks for the help FP.. ^^ Like I said in my original post, I export using the 'Split Mixer Tracks' option, and they do not pass through the master on export.

But regardless if I'm using FL or Reason or anything. Can someone Please explain how hot I should have(export) my DRY tracks, for the purpose of mixing elsewhere. Thanks..

And also. In FL, there is a volume control on the channel, and then one on the mixer. How should this be configured?? How hot should it be going into the mixer???
