Echo before the sound?

I'm listening to "Hot" off of Clones right now, to the snare/clap. It sounds like some reverb starts before the hit and then again after. I tried hooking up some delays and .... in Reason and got something a little similar. Am I on the right track or smokin da crack?

1) Reverse the sound

2) Add the reverb/echo

3) Reverse the sound

Now the reverb/echo will start before the sound
