A friend has a portable CD burner, and I want to record some mixes on my TT's. Do I need to run it through my PC first, w/ Nero or something, or can it be done straight from my amp to the burner? I've never done it before, so I'm basically clueless.

-if portable = "stand alone" then I think you can send the audio from your tt/mixer to the burner

-if portable = "external" then you would need a computer to do this

3 ways:

-ghetto: tt/mixer --> speaker /\/\/\--> microphone -->soundcard --> harddrive

-less ghetto: tt/mixer --> cord with rca's(red/white) to stereo (skinny headphone plug) --> 'line in'(sound card) --> harddrive

-anti ghetto: tt w/digital[coax] out(Denon's) --> digital[s/pdif] in(computer) --> harddrive

-personally I use option B, because I have yet to buy a digital interface (sound card) for my non-existent, really nice computer. . .eh heh

-make sure you record the file as a .wav, and not a .mp3. You want to try to maintain as high quality as possible. Then .wav to cd is automatic for any decent burner program.

-lemme know if you have questions
