Hi ive been recording vocals over a track i made and ive found problems with double tracking. The sound is horrible i just wanted to know where i could be going wrong and to get it to sound better
 
You have to make sure that is pretty much aligned with the first track in order to give it that nice sound. Just keep trying and you'll get there in the end and make sure you do not over use any effects. Simplicity is the key.

I agree you'll get it. Just keep trying. go over your tracks until you hear what you want.
 
In what way do they sound bad? Just sounds bad or sounds like they're not in sync?

If the case is the first one then, try doubling using the same voice, and pratice mixing the two until they sound right.

If the second, got to pratice getting them in sync, check to see if there could be some kind of latency in your system causing you to be off. If not, you can get a plugin called "Vocalign" lines everything up nicely.
