is there a eq that just effects frequency and not volume?

I want an eq that will boost or cut a frequency but won't turn up or down the overall volume. Is there a plug in that does this? Maybe it'll have automatic make up gain or some kind of thing. I'm useing it for mastering. I'm doing tiny increments of eq automation to the master track.

Your request for an EQ that doesn't affect overall volume doesn't seem possible since EQ changes affect the overall volume and your perception of loudness based on the frequency range you alter.

Concerning having make up gain on an EQ, try the plugins above. I, however, think that many stock EQs come with an output gain inside (true for FL Studio, Pro Tools, and maybe Logic). You could just manully add or reduce the volume and save yourself money.

Does the stock EQ in your DAW not have a gain knob/slider? Most of them do, so you can match the output level with the input level.
