Soca beats - Kick and snare at same time - Help!

So the story goes.....

Been making soca/bashment beats for a few months now. Tons to learn but its great so far. The issue thats holding my mixing back is when the kick and snare hit at the same time which happens often in this type of music. Issue one is the peaking. Issue two is bass drum loses a lot of its sound when the snare hits at the same time.

So far I've experimented with the following techniques to try and solve the problem but no luck.

1. Sidechain on kick
2. Sidechain on snare
4. Volume of each
3. Dynamic eq
5. Reversed polarity
4. Changing samples

Also to note, the low end of the snare should not be interfering with the kick. They are decently separated (analyzer). The high end of the kick disappears when the snare hits but its the low end thats bugging me more. The kick goes flat and I get a peak above the normal drum levels. None of these techniques have really helped the situation. If I saw some improvement I'd at least know where to focus but I'm not seeing it.

I feel like this must be a common issue but can't find figure it out. Any suggestions?
