Recording with balanced outputs

If my mixer has balanced outputs, do I want to record using something that has balanced inputs to get the best sound recording possible? Will it even matter? Does DAT recorders have balanced inputs?

Most DAT recorders do have balanced inputs. See the manual to make sure.

Yes you want to record balanced as it eliminates all cable noise or interference that the cable could generate. This is very noticable on long cables, on short ones less, but if you have it use it, your recording will be cleaner.

Most pro studios use all ballanced ins and outs, its really important if your using longer cords to reduce the chances of hums and other nasty noises. If you can use all balanced gear then do. If you can't You may still get a good sounding recording.
