Offbeat Sidechain Compression

Hey guys,

How do I assign sidechain compression to a kick that is different from the standard sidechain options (1/8, 1/4, 1/2 or 1/1) in FL Studio 12? I have tried a couple of things, but haven't found the solution yet...

Kickstart simulates sidechaining and that won't help you, I'm afraid because kickstart is limited.

What you need is real sidechain, done with a ghost track and a compressor. Search on youtube.

^This. Kickstart is, afaik, just a volume envelope - it doesn't actually use compression to achieve the effect, and it's certainly not triggered by anything than itself. Use an actual sidechainable comp, or, well, draw volume automation curves by hand (if your patterns are done, the latter option might not be as laborous as it seems).
