I just downloaded a one-hour mix of only 129 mb.. So...

How the **** is that even possible? That's 36 kbps, and it's sounds alright?
Does anyone have some insight to this kind of data-compression?
And how much am i "missing out on" compared to a regular 320 kpbs MP3? Is it even possible to compare bitrates between the two formats?

I'm just impressed i guess. The mixes are excellent btw:

I don't know where you got 36kbps from, as at least iTunes shows that this is a 192kbps file. The size looks about alright for that bitrate. And yes, AAC (which is what this is in a M4A container) is more efficient than mp3, so you get the same quality with lower bitrates, down to a point.

I messed up the calculation. What I did:
    129 * 1000 / 60 / 60 = 36

    I forgot, that this is in kilo"bytes" and not kilo"bits".... So: 8 bit/byte * 36 kilobyte/s = 288 kbps.
That sound more fair. Not exactly the 192, that you see though. Sorry to waste your time ^^
