The short answer is your instruments are in the same frequency range as the vocal. Try side chaining some stuff to the vocal only using about 1db of gain reduction. Or Just simply taking some frequencies away from instruments that dont need to be there, especially ones that are conflicting with where the vocal is.
You can have you beat punch a bit better using low end distortion and parallel compression at a lower volume as well. Among many other techniques. It all just comes down to learning more mixing theory.
