I wanted to do something in the reggea direction and I was inspired by this song:

My problem is that I am currently trying to figure out how to get to this, I would describe it as bubbly, reggea typical sound in the beginning of the Song. I tried a few hours with lowpass, highpass, equalizer, lfo, attacks and decays, different plug-ins, reverb and many other things. At the moment I am pretty close but it lacks of the final touch. My version is monotonous and numb and I just don't get this smooth, lively and bubbly pop. Do you have any suggestions for me how I can reach this?
