Hey! Didn't I EQ that?

That's the thing I miss about mixing with a hardware mixer the most - most of the time the only thing besides actual fx would just be that (one) simple EQ on the desk, often with fixed frequencies (maybe one sweepable mid) and the volume faders, and that'd get me 90% there. Nowadays it's way too easy to have super-detailed control over every possible thing, and that tends to shift the focus to all the wrong places, like, well, looking at the spectrum.

Also keep in mind that different people will have varying degrees of experience and understanding. Questions like these, no matter how irrelevant they may appear to some, should be posed in order to acquire more working knowledge and information. Nothing happens in a vacuum.

Yeah this could lead to making extreme EQ cuts so that the scope looks 'right' while totally missing the effect it's having on the overall sound.
