I find this video extremely helpful, especially in the early stages of mixing music.

Now there's no shortcut to make your music sound great in 6 minutes, but this short video helps you find guidelines along which you will continue with the mixing.
Pink noise helps set up a quick rough mix where you will see the relationship between different instruments in your ensemble. It's much easier to proceed from this point on, please watch the video, there are plenty of other videos related to pink noise mixing.

Yes, it's nice.
I try and use it whenever I can, although it can be deceiving in a way, do not rely on this process, it will only give you a quick first reference which you can build around.
