Could I fully mix an instrumental and then record vocals?

I'm wondering this because maschine 2.0 allows for easier mixing, but I don't think its ideal for hip hop vocals. I hate the idea that I can't use too many effects in maschine because I'm going to be bouncing the wav files to another DAW. Then I can't control the effects.

My guess is that it might not fit afterward. Vocal dominate the mid range so you have to mix around the vocal very early on.

I think throwing in vocals afterwards should only be done if there's no other choice. They should be treated like any other instrument in a mix in that regard...
