Akai Pro EIE 24-bit or 16-bit?

Hello, I am seriously interested in buying myself the Akai Pro EIE audio interface for the home studio I am slowly buying the components for. My question is: is the price difference between the 16-bit and the 24-bit models worth it? In other words, would the audio quality be worth for me to save up for a bit longer to afford the 24-bit or should I simply buy the 16-bit one? Thank you :)

I find it kind of odd that 16-bit interfaces are even sold at this day and age. Pretty much everything else is 24-bit. People recorded with 16-bit interfaces for ages, and there's nothing wrong with the quality - but the increased headroom of 24-bit just makes setting levels so much less of a hassle, that I'd definitely go for it.

If you're looking for a 4x i/o audio interface I would recommend to take a look at the audio interfaces from Steinberg.
