Just a good camera and a decent NLE. I can sell you this edit suite if interested:

That said, really, Final Cut Pro on a Macbook Pro will do ya fine, at least as you grease your gears. Doesn't have to cost more than $5k. Camera-wise that's a good ball park to play... $5k but it's in no way required. You can find plenty a cheaper solution that's capable enough to get started on. Do check out the RED Scarlet and Canon's 7D and 5D Mark II. All three are modular and don't have to break the bank to get into em. You can add goodies as needed. I like that. Same with Final Cut Studio for that matter. You can start with a laptop and spit out HD web clips and DVDs then add uncomprewssed HD cards and break out boxes if you start broadcasting. That's where the suite above comes in.
