Where to meet "really" talented artists?

I've always been willing to work on music with artists here in my region, but it's never worked out for many reasons. The biggest reason I can honestly say is that I'm just not impressed with the end result. The music is just not worthy of sharing with anyone. It's just mediocre at best.

I'm curious as to where I should look to find the real talent out there across the country. I want to make something catchy enough to say I can potentially have a hit record on my hands. I just don't know where to find this talent. Any suggestions as to where I should start? I'm going to check Reverb Nation and Soundclick. I'll update this post with any progress I make.

You could try to find a band with a talented singer and try to grab em' to be on a couple tracks of yours... kinda tough though because a lot of singers aren't great at writing melodies haha
