First, bootlegs are illegal and any sort of related question to them on FP is considered a "no-no," so please just buy your software, then you don't have to ask a dumb question like "should I buy reason instead of using this bootleg that doesn't work all the way."

The reason it doesn't work is because YOU didn't buy it and INSTALL it off the MANUFACTUERS CD. This is why you have problems.

Having the program direct from the company also allows you access to online services to registered members, for most software.

Also, to fuquan, Audition and WaveLab DO NOT chop anything for you like you said, but YOU CAN make your own chops with them.

Recycle & Beatslicer AUTOMATICALLY chop/slice samples for you.

To chop a sample and send it to Reason, you need Recycle (though I think beatslicer may have a file format that works in Reason, not sure).

And all you need is Reason, Trigger Finger (or Akai MPD16 if you want the MPC pads), and Recycle to chop. Other than that, a sequencing program.

If you want to use the MPC 1K, its all that stuff in one, but its a bit more difficult to get it to work for you, since you are limited by menus that you have to navigate.

This is about the only drawback, plus they left out the timestretch and reverse features, key factors in sampling.

Those 3 reasons are reason enough for me to not even mess with a 1K. I'd suggest a 2000XL or 2500XL.

I used to have a mpc1k, and guess what; sold it and copped a triggerfinger. Same workflow for me, cuz I use fl5 and reason mainly (although Im starting to use sonar5 more)

    software vs. hardware

its really about your preference, but I feel I can do anything a mpc1k can do (and more) in the same amount of time

    lol, r u kidding
this ain't english class, why don't you say something productive if you gon say something about my reply

yeah, and the new os 2.1 added a lot of features to the mpc1k making it more comparable to the 2xl, but I still sold mine n-e-wayz cuz you can do all that w/ software - and I don't plan on producing on the go

a mpc may be a good long term purchase, just dont let anyone make you think you need one in order to be a good producer

i like the sound on the mpc so i bought one for the mpc feel something i failed to get out of ableton live and software and buyin recyclye ,reason and a trigger is the same price as a used mpc 1000,the mpc is so much easier for me because i dont need to open many different programs just to sample a drum break or toon.i sample right in to the akai and then i chop it which goes right to the pads all of my chopped pieces and i sequence , 1,2,3 easy .

The added features list was an eye opener, I didn't know they added all that.

Still, I haven't tested this myself, so, from my last test, the 1K didn't have those options.

I still don't see why you'd spend a 1,000 on an MPC1K, when the 2500XL is much better machine and only 600 more.

That's just me, but thanks for the new info on the 1K.

just wondering, do you only sample or make melodies/chords yourself?

do you use a synthesizer at all?
