To old to produce? WTF? As a producer surely it's essential to be able to identify with the past, since the dawn of hip hop/ old skool electro/ rap - producers have borrowed beats, percussion, chords, sampled iconic vocals, to create vibes and new sounds?

Your never too old. Old is a state of mind.

The wrestler Diamond Dallas Page started in the WWF when he was 35.

Ernestine Shepherd didn't start working out actively until she was 56. In 2010 & 2011 she was in the Guinness Book of world records as the oldest competitive body builder at the age of 73 & 74. Since age 56 she has won two bodybuilding titles, as well as run nine marathons.

And my all time inspiration for never being to old goes to Colonel Sanders who didn't start KFC until he was 65.

So never give up, because if the Colonel had after he was forced to close his service station there would be no KFC.

You are never to old to start producing! Is Jay-z to old to be a rapper at 40 something. Producers produce until the day they die. Producing doent mean selling beats a producers does much more than that even if your not making the beats you still can produce!!

So 31 is already old? I guess considering a lot of people start in their teens or early twenties.
I'm 31 now, I wouldn't mind being the next Arif Mardin
Wondering how I'll call my record label

but he was breaking new ground as a producer and sounding fresh well into his later years. Scritti Polliti, Chaka Khan and all that....

I agree with the majority here. I say youre never too old to start anything. I saw a man on msnbc news last week whos like 70 years old with 29 college degrees including 1 or 2 phds working on some more education. I'd love to pick his brain. peace.
