Sampling vs Remixes

Hi, this is my first post. I didn't see a place for noob introductions so I thought I would just share something I was wondering about. What do you guys/girls consider a remix and when is it sampling?

I was thinking about this as I listened to Mr. Taxi "Remix" by Steve Aoki. The original song by Girls Generation is nothing like the remix. In fact, the only similarities I could find were that he used the vocals "Taxi Taxi" and "Anywhere". Do three words really make it a remix rather than him just sampling their vocals? At what point would you stop calling something a remix?

moved this to getting started which is where you do intros

as for when is a remix not a remix? when there is nothing from the existing track present in the production

a remix can have samples from the original mix in it, but the overall sounds and style may vary from the original. for example the original song might be a pop song when the remix may be a trance or electro version
