This problem isn't normal, and has absolutely NOTHING to do with a sound card.

If I'm correct, you're using a laptop with a SB Live? And your midi keys are connected thru USB? Right?

You're confusing two completely different ways of communicating with the computer.

The soundcard is internal, but since I'm not a laptop person, I'm going to speculate and say that the card is probably PCI, at least it would be for a desktop PC.

And the keyboard is USB. USB and PCI are two different systems on your motherboard, doing two completely different operations.

I think looking up the midi issues in FLS Help file would shed more light on this for you. This is strictly a MIDI problem, there is nothing that you described to give ANY indication of sound card error.

I haven't experienced this with my USB (that I used for like 3 months) but I do think it is in your settings. There's a menu option in FLS that has more MIDI options from it, but for the life of me, I can't think. I want to say its either second to last, or third to last, if you read from left to right. Its right before the Help menu.

Honestly, before blowing money on something that might now fix the problem, you might consider more midi research, such as, Tweakz Studio guide's section on midi, at http://www.tweakheadz.com/ - this might help.

Again, I haven't had this issue, a re-install of FLS might fix this. Of course, backing up files is recommended always.

    Hey everyone Problem Solved!

I downloaded FL6 and it works fine now. It must just be a bug with FL5.

Thanks for all the great help everyone you've all been very patient.
