So I have reason 4, 5, 6, and record. If I delete everything from propellerhead what would I need to reinstall only? Record is useless with 6.5 so I don't need that.

Install the latest version only, the rest is obsolete. So if you have a license for 6, you automatically have a license for the free 6.5 upgrade.
If you download that one, you do need to have the soundbanks transferred to your disk/reason install.

what about the pianos and bass from reason 4? they are on discs.
I don't know which one you mean but there's pianos and bass in the factory soundbank.
If you're willing to pay some bucks for refills, reason pianos is worth it. For bass you do have the electric bass refill but I usually pick one of the many basses in the factory soundbank and tweak those with some eq'ing, processing and effects. There's also a nice youtube bout creating a bass amp but that's mostly useful for actual bass players. I usually play the bass parts on my keyboard or pad controller. Also compression on the bass can be tricky.
Here's the part about the bass amp:
On compression, you should read the parts on the FP forum. The stickied topics under mixing and mastering have some nice links to read about compression. Other than that, there's a ton of youtubes on Reason tutorials out there, starting on their own youtube channel.

Move any refills you have out of the reason install folder. Then uninstall whatever versions of Reason you have on your computer and install only Reason 6.5 then move your refills that come with reason back into your reason folder and open reason and run the authorizer software
So what do I do about record and that red I lok sorta key? Put it back in the package and never use it again? Its pretty much worthless right?
The red key is your reason key. Record is part of your reason license as well so yes you can throw record out and never use it again unless u want to go back to an older version for whatever reason
