Sometimes i do a whole part based on the melody (melody wrote first), other times i work on the whole instruments after putting in bassline and other times i arrange the work after the chords or drums. Or based on vocals or sound effects, it doesnt make difference.

I'm not sure what method is best, cause everything worked fine for me so far.

I usually start from an idea, being a bass line, a drum pattern, melody, and build the way around with other ideas

personally i start with melody and leave drums for dead last... drums should only help enhance the beat in my opinion.. but yea.. melody/sounds first... for me at least

It's gonna be different every time, by sticking with that same work flow (melody first), I could see that causing a little writers block.
Sometimes I start with a melody, chord progressions, sample, bass line, drum or drum break, it all depends.
    I wouldn't stick to a formula

Well said. Sometimes, when your "melody side" is nt really on your side (pun intended, right?), you might want to start with your drums. When you get the groove down, a melody should come to you almost immediately. If your "groove side" is not on your side, you should start with a melody and a groove will come to you!
Sometimes, for a beat, you could get ideas for both the melody and the drums simultaneously. Remember, there are no rules in music production! All that matters is the end product: the music!!! Good luck!

It honestly depends on the genre im working with...

Outside of that, most of the time, i just do, and don't think.. You think to long, your left brain takes over and BLAM the creative process goes bye bye..

Starting out with a melody actually does help me out when I lay down my drums. It's really your choice but I like starting my beats off by creating my main melody first to get a good Theme/mood.

Im a beginner at all this but out of the 8 beats i made, i find it just depends on what your idea is at the moment, if you have the melody in your head, write that first, if you have the drums, do that first.

It's hard to say really. Whatever works best for you. I know people who start with the bassline for example. Although most of my peers start off with constructing beats - then chords and melody.
