I'm planning on making a beat website and selling them with some friends of mine. I was wondering if you guys can give me some insight/tips on how I should go about this as far as promoting my beats?

First you need to develop a great looking beat website. Once its done, then I would suggest you to hire a professional guy, who has experience in online marketing & with search engines marketing. He will help you to promote your beats and making you money.

I'd argue that the market is already fairly close to being swamped; and that a new beat-sales website is almost doomed to fail.
IMO - You'd be better off selling your beats through a pre-existing site that already gets plenty of traffic.

If you're going DIY, I'd go with Squarespace to build your website. It's pretty easy to use, and looks professional. Great for portfolios, presenting audio, and has an E-commerce section.
