Ah. Sampling is almost always trial and error, by default unless there is a very, very specific route thought about beforehand.
I have the same problem, always curious about "what would happen...if I added that" 24/7.
Maybe you're talking about the clarity of a mix or the workflow.

Yeah it just gets frustrating clicking through presets looking for sounds lol

Yeah that crap's terrible. Although there's one patch in nnxt I like.
jovian pad. but everything else I'd rather do in thor messing with knobs.

Backwhen I had omnisphere that used to be hell too.

Get your drums going, then using a synth sound/piano/percussive hit, use the same note and build a rhythm you like. Then you can just move the notes around one note at a time to find the melody.

Works for me if I'm struggling. Time consuming sometimes, but it does work.
