I know there's no set template for making rnb and rap beats. I just would like to hear what other people do so i can get an idea. All my beats sound like dirty south beats and i want to change it up. I use reason 4. Just wanted to know what type of instruments are good for hip hop,rap and rnb beats, some good drum patterns and tempos?

Just read what's going on in here. Do searches on the forum. Listen to some of the posted music. There are tons of ideas in here right now. Take what you hear and read and then apply that knowledge.

Learn to play an instrument. Whatever you choose will help. I gaurantee it. Whether it's guitar, piano, drums, saxophone, etc. It helps a lot.

Open your ears. Listen to the little things in a particular style and how its formed. Its easy to master one style hard to master many

to start off ,get of this forum, its full of fl studio wannabe producers who think the key is the best program and the best midi (axiom right?)

just listen to as much music as you can, and listen to it technically, do whatever sounds good to you, and always listen back to ur older stuff and see your improvements. and always compare your stuff to the mainstream music. you might think the beat ur making is off the chain, but once you pop in a cd, ur like, wow, that was really wack.

and also, krushing is so fat and ugly, why is he so fat and ugly, and why does he insist that every one that has to look at his posts has to see his ugly ass face.

Damn there is so many immature people on this website lately

krazyk, just listen to as many different styles of music that you can and try to imitate the parts that you like. When I say imitate the parts you like, I don't mean copy the beat. I mean try to follow that style. Don't be afraid to experiment and try new things.
